del.icio.us


is a useful tool for keeping records of all the good website staff find on subjects that are for school projects, we have it on our website so that all staff and all patrons can access all these websites, so when all our resourses are on loan we can use del.icio.us to access great websites with lots of info that all staff have located, this is available on our home web page. patrons can access it from home.



Library Things


This tool is good for contecting you to other books on the same subject or books of a simpilar type. So it you really enjoyed a book just use library things to see what else is out there that is like it, or if the subject eg: Irish history really appeals to you, you can find out what other books are on that subject.

This is attached to our catalogue which is also on our website so patrons have access in the library and at home.

This function would be good for showing the lastest dvds or music cds that the library purchase. which we could add to our website, as well as using this for local area with tourism and maybe some historical stuff for local history researchers.


Different libraries are useing you tube to capture infomation - finding out what people think of libraries today and comparing it to the future later, as well as to keep records of events that happen in the library, such as book week/story times/ author visit/lectures HSC. anything that maybe useful to library patrons in the future or current events that they may have missed in person.

In the future they can look back and see how it was done 10 years ago and compare what they are doing now or have or have not changed.

One day that will be me.....

Creating a Blog

This was not a fun thing to do
Very frustrating exercise
more names and passwords to forget.

This could be very useful for updating the library blog on our website with book review movies reviews ideas about the library and how the public like our new library improvements.

This could also be good for the book group to discuss the books they read instead of coming in in person to discuss it. do it electronically.

if i travel maybe a blog would be good to communicate with lots of friends at once to let them know where i am what i have seen and where i am going. they can also keep me updated with what is happening at home and telling me what sights to see.
